The arc de triomphe du Carrousel was built in 1809 under Napoleon Bonaparte to celebrate the victory of the great French army at Austerlitz. It illustrates the campaign of 1805 and the capitulation of Ulm on October 20, 1805

The Arc is perfectly aligned with the Obelisk of Luxor, the “Arc de Triomphe de l’Etoile” and that of the Défense.

The Pantheon dominates front the Church of St Etienne du Mont at the bottom left. Designed originally in the 18^th century to be a church, this monument now honours the great figures who marked the history of France. Detached from the rock, in a pink granite quarry, near Assuan in Egypt, more than three thousand years ago, the Obelisk measuring 23 meters and weighing 222 tons was transported on the Nile to Thebes to be erected at the entrance of the Temple of Luxor to 1300 before Christ. In 1832 the monolith is embarked down the Nile and reaches Toulon in May 1833 to arrive at Paris in August 1834 after having ascended the Seine. It stays in the center of the place de la Concorde since 1836.
On the occasion of the year of Egypt in Paris in 1998, the top of the Obelisk is topped with a pyramidion of more of 3.50 m, made of bronze and gold leaf The mineral assemblage of pink granite is clearly visible at maximum magnification.

 The Jardin des Tuileries is the largest and the oldest French Garden in the capital. It is classified as a historical monument since 1914 and belongs to the banks of the Seine included in the world heritage by UNESCO.
A beautiful sunny day invokes the spring, which this year is expected under the clouds, rain and snow.

 The fountain is dedicated to the painter Eugène Delacroix (1798-1863). The bronze sculpture was made by Jules Dalou in 1890. The bust of the painter stands on a pedestal. At its foot three allegories are represented. The Time holds out the Glory to the bust, while the Genius of Arts applauds.

The clock was commissioned by King Charles V in 1371 to give the city of Paris official time, until then given by the bells of the churches often poorly coordinated... Over the centuries, it was restored and transformed several times and then it eventually stopped. The stained glass windows of the choir of 1435-40 are part of a larger former cycle. Sixteen of the twenty one panels are in their original location. The central window shows Christ on the cross between the Virgin and saint flanked by Jean de saint Vincent and saint Laurent the boss of this church, in the Middle the Magi, and cheap saint Peter, saint Paul and saint Jean atop. On the left panel are from top to bottom the Annunciation, the visitation and the birth of Christ. Panel on the right shows the circumcision at the top, the presentation at the temple in the middle and the reunion in the temple at the bottom.

The Church of Saint Séverin is adorned with stained glass windows dating from the Middle Ages until the twentieth century. In the apse, those on the top level date from the 15^th century and are dedicated to the Blessed Virgin, Christ and the Apostles. Those of the lower level are of the 19^th century and relate scenes from the life of Christ: birth, Mount of olives, crucifixion, resurrection, ascension and Pentecost.

The arsenal of Venice, built in 1104. This shipyard was crucial in the construction of the Venetian empire. It becomes the backbone of the market power, Venice occupying the largest share of purchases of pepper and spices from the Levant. The pedestrian gate is dated 1460, it takes the form of a triumphal arch, first monument of Renaissance style in Venice, embodying ancient aesthetics. The portal is of course decorated with the winged lion of St. mark. The balustrade is decorated with statues of ancient gods. Around this portal you will also find statues of lion, reported from the East during the various wars waged by the Serenissima.

Built between 1444 to 1515 located on a vast campo, the San Zaccaria church present a beautiful facade. There are clearly two different styles in the façade, the lower part is close to the Gothic-style while the portion above the door is of Renaissance style.

The island of San Michele is the necropolis Venice installed in 1837. November first, on the eve of the feast of the dead, sunset gives to this place of memory a sad and quiet remote tranquility. It inspired the great painter Arnold Böcklin for the famous paintings on “Island of death”. They inspired in turn Rachmaninoff for the ’symphonic poem on death"and Max Reger for the ’four symphonic poems after Böcklin.
To the right is chained the island of Murano.

Build in the Luxembourg Garden by Marie de Médicis in the early 17^th century, the sumptuous palace became a prison during the French revolution in 1793. In 1800^th the architect Chalgrin renovated it for the Senate, which will have the sessions there up to our days. In this autumn morning the face of the Palace presents itself in all its brilliance. Here you can admire the both the whole and the details of his sculptures and decorations. Under the flag of the Republic, the supervisors stand guard, visitors stroll, and athletes are running, all in the floral decoration created by the gardeners of the Luxembourg.

Alors que Paris s’éveille… Pont d’Arcole, Pont de Notre Dame, Pont au Change, Pont Neuf, Ponts des Arts, Pont du Carrousel et Pont Royal… défilent, dans une procession d’enfants sage, sur l’eau paisible de la Seine.

From the top of the Tower of the Church San Giorgio the panorama presents magnificent views of Venice from San Marco to the Giardini Biennale in the foreground. At the back-plane you can see the lagoon with the islands of the San Michele cemetery and Murano as well as at the bottom side of the lagoon with the airport.
